Haena is truly paradise found! The stunning aquamarine waters and empty beaches make it an prime vacation destination and an even better place to live. Big surf in the winter and strong trades in the summer, draw water sports enthusiasts from around the world to surf, kite board and wind surf.
On your way out to Haena you pass through Wainiha, don’t blink or you will miss it! Wainiha offers the only convenience store in the area and next door, Sushi Girl, has a great lunch. The double bridge on your way out to Haena can be challenging for first-timers, stop, look and go with the flow. Haena Beach Park has camping facilities and a lifeguard protected beach. For camping permits go to the County of Kauai website and make a reservation. A short walk down the beach takes you to famous Tunnels Beach, fantastic for snorkeling and swimming in the summer months.
Limahuli Garden is a must see educational journey where you will learn about ancient Kauai’ian life and agricultural practices. At the very end of the road is the Kalalau trail head and the blue lagoon at Ke’e Beach Park, this is a very popular destination so go early because parking is limited.
All in all, Haena is a quiet country setting where the mountains meet the sea, waterfalls, sunsets and rainbows make you slow down and appreciate the beauty every day.
